Compensatory Lengthening is a two-part process in which one element is deleted in the first part and another is lengthened in the second part. Presenting an integrated analysis of the two parts of this process has always been challenging for phonological theories. This research examines the Compensatory Lengthening process in the framework of the Harmonic Serialism approach, which is one of the optimality theory's approaches. The goals of this research are to explain the process of Compensatory Lengthening in the Ardabili dialect of Azerbaijani Turkish language, to introduce and rank the constraints involved in it, and to evaluate the adequacy of the Harmonic Serialism oriented approach in explaining this process. The method of this research is descriptive-analytical and the required data was collected by field data collection method. The research data has been analyzed in the framework of the Harmonic Serialism approach in the form of the interaction of constraints and the drawing of the optimality tableau. The data analysis showed that in this dialect, the glide consonants /j/ and /w/ are deleted from the coda position and the onset of the second syllable, with the difference that deleting from the coda, which is a moraic position, leads to vowel lengthening. However, deleting the second syllable from the onset position, which is a nonmoraic position, does not cause the previous vowel to be lengthened. The activation of the glideCOND constraint causes the elimination of glide consonants and the activation of the WBP constraint causes the compensatory lengthening process to occur.
